Rathmell Young Farmers’ Club’s 69th annual show enjoyed high standards and increased entries on Saturday.

Taking the supreme sheep championship was eight-year-old Jake Booth with a Mule ewe and the reserve championship went to Liam Halliday with a gimmer lamb.

And, in the cattle section, top honours went to Lucy Dean with her dairy heifer and reserve champion was a dairy cow being shown by Jonathan Booth.

There were lots of indoor entries, with 18 window boxes, 10 butterfly buns and 12 samples of hay making.

It proved a good day for Jessica Sowerbutts, who won four trophies outright and shared a fifth – most points in the cookery section – with Tom Dean.
