Visitors flock to Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival
8:00am Thursday 15th August 2013 in News
Strange creatures have appeared in Kettlewell – but don’t worry they are friendly.
More than 100 scarecrows have gone on display for the village’s annual festival – and once again residents have let their imaginations run riot.
This year’s themes are Signs of the Zodiac for adults and book characters for children, but that hasn’t stopped many of the creations taking inspiration from the Tour de France, which is due to pass through the village next year.
The festival started on Saturday and the village has been welcoming about 1,200 visitors a day.
The event runs until Sunday and all proceeds will be split between the local school, church, village hall and community projects.
