Inland beach creates Barnoldswick-by-the-sea
9:00am Sunday 18th August 2013 in News
More than 600 people visited Barnoldswick’s “inland” beach in its first four days.
The sandy beach, set up in the town square, features donkey rides, a surfing simulator, a beach disco and a lifeboat display and runs until the end of the month.
Barnoldswick town councillor David Whipp said: “Last year, we had 10,000 visitors. Indications are there will be even more this year.”
Hope Churches will provide craft activities on Mondays and Gisburn Road Children’s Centre will do craft activities on Thursday mornings.
Fellow town councillor Jenny Purcell said: “We’ve already had over 600 people visit the beach so it has been a fantastic start. It always proves very popular.”
The beach is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, except for Bank Holiday Monday.
