Nursing home residents had a chance to appreciate some highlights of Scottish culture as part of a programme of activities celebrating the world’s different countries.
Steeton Court Nursing home was visited by Sheffield-based bagpiper Stuart Maclaughlan and euphonium player Alex Coward, from Cowling.
The pair performed for residents last Tuesday and, in keeping with the Scotland theme, were joined by a Skye terrier called Donald.
The day was arranged by activities co-ordinators Tracy Green and Karen Steele, who said the home would continue to enjoy Scottish music and food throughout August.
Tracy said: “The residents are absolutely loving it. We’re focusing on a different country every month this year, which allows us to cover such a wide range of activities. It’s educational as well as fun. For Scotland month we’ve also been having whisky and fudge and haggis.”
She added that the home staged American-related activities last month and will celebrate Caribbean culture in September.
