Fishing club launched at West Craven High Technology College, Barnoldswick
8:00am Saturday 17th August 2013 in News
A Barnoldswick high school has created a new fishing club.
The West Craven Wagglers will run as an after school club at West Craven High Technology College on Tuesday afternoons.
The club, which will be open to students in years seven to ten, will teach budding anglers the basics of good fishing as well as aspects of the countryside code.
Sessions will combine theory and practice, with the pupils building up a selection of skills that can lead to bronze, silver and gold awards.
The club is open to anyone interested in fishing or those wanting to learn a new skill.
Les Webber, of angling-project.org.uk, has donated fishing equipment to the club and Marsden Star Anglers have allowed the group to use a stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal close to the school.
