Church news: St Mary’s would like to thank everybody who supported the summer fete in the grounds of Holy Trinity, Skipton, last Saturday. Sunday marked the last service conducted by Canon Adrian Botwright at St Mary’s and the Parochial Church Council wishes to thank him for his caring ministry. This Sunday’s service at St Mary’s will be a parish communion at 9.30am. The Methodist chapel service at 10.30am will be a service of Holy Communion led by the Rev Janet Clasper.

Steam railway: On Saturday, you can enjoy fish and chips from Busy Lizzie’s in Skipton on board a steam train running between Bolton Abbey and Embsay. The train will depart from Bolton Abbey station at 7pm for a round trip to Bow Bridge and back. Advance booking is essential. Tickets are £15 for adults and £10 for children £10.

Parish council: As no nominations have been received to fill the two vacancies on the parish council, they will be filled by co-option. Local electors who are interested in becoming a member of the parish council will be invited to confirm their interest in writing by providing a brief statement as to why they wish to become a parish councillor, as well as an indication of what they would bring to the position in the way of relevant skills, knowledge, experience, etc. Formal interviews, if required, will be held at the September or October meeting of the council.

Village show: Free schedules for the village show are still available for this year’s event on Saturday, September 7, at the Paper Shop and Linda’s Hairdressers. There is no charge to enter items in the show and it is open to everyone.

Police surgery: The next surgery run by PCSO Ruth Pearson in the village hall will be on Thursday, August 29, between 6pm and 7pm.
