Families and children explored the “hidden nature” at Malham Tarn.
During an event run by the National Trust, children had the chance to see the wildlife in the wetlands of the nature reserve, Head ranger Tim Bailey said the Exploring Malham Tarn National Nature Reserve event gave children the opportunity to go pond dipping and bird watching.
“We introduced children and families to the hidden nature at Malham Tarn,” said Mr Bailey. “They were looking for tadpoles, pond skaters and water boatman.
“They did some bird watching from the bird hide and saw coots, mallards and geese, and then did some bug hunting in the woodlands in search of green-veined white butterflies, common green grasshoppers and froghoppers.”
