Hundreds enjoy attractions at Airedale Hospital open day
9:00am Friday 30th August 2013 in News
Hundreds of people of all ages attended an open day at Airedale Hospital.
A huge range of attractions was on offer, with activities taking place in the hospital’s education centre and a marquee in the grounds.
A 90ft cave, rescue vehicles and a children’s Life Education Bus were among the attractions. There was also a chance to discover how realistic wounds seen in movies are created.
Pets as Therapy dogs were present and there were fitness taster sessions and blood pressure, height and weight checks.
Fire and ambulance service vehicles proved popular and there was the opportunity to try a surgical techniques simulator, enjoy a hospital tour and sample new patient menus.
Colin Millar, chairman of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We were delighted so many people came along to our event and that there was so much interest in what is going on in our hospital.
“All our teams – including maternity, endoscopy, surgical assessment, pathology, pharmacy, stroke services, nutrition, therapy services, community nursing, our charities, volunteers and hospital governors – were on hand to answer questions.”
