Playaway summer fun at Eshton
8:00am Sunday 1st September 2013 in News
Eshton-based charity Playaway has revived its summer playscheme – and it has proved a huge success.
For each weekday of the school holiday, it has welcomed between 40 and 50 local youngsters, aged between eight and 12, along with other children on residential breaks.
They have enjoyed a variety of free activities, ranging from bug catching and rocket making to drama and river walks.
And there has also been a cooking session with Yesmien Bagh Ali, from Skipton-based Amaali.
“The kids have been loving it,” said centre manager Tony McIntyre. “We ran a playscheme for many years, but stopped because of funding.
“We have decided to try it again, but once again it is being funded out of our own budget. We are hopeful we can keep it up, but getting the money together is very difficult.”
He added that while sessions were free, donations were invited.
