Man threw brick at car in rage at friend
10:10am Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
A 19-year-old man threw a brick through the windscreen of his former friend’s car after he had an “intimate encounter” with his girlfriend, Skipton magistrates heard.
Benjamin Ralph had forced the car to stop at Cleatop roundabout, Settle, by overtaking James Wildman then braking, the court was told.
Ralph, of Mains View, Settle, then smashed the windscreen of Mr Wildman’s Astra, scattering glass on him and his pregnant partner, Jemma Coates, who was in the passenger seat.
He pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage on May 8, assaulting James Wildman and Jemma Coates and driving without due care and attention.
He was bailed to return to court on October 11 when pre-sentence reports will be available along with a report on his mental health.
John Mewies, for Ralph, said he denied forcing Mr Wildman to stop but simply slowed down in front of him and he would not have thrown the brick had he know Miss Coates was in the car.
The court was told doctors were concerned about Ralph’s mental health and he was suffering from depression.
