Rotary club: Rotarians were more than a little amazed by the varied career of the Barnoldswick and Earby Club’s newest member, Mark Whiteley-Robinson, when he told them his life story. Mark said he began work as a salesman in a furniture shop after leaving school, then trained and worked as a chef, during which time he met his wife. They left the Devonshire Arms, Bolton Abbey, to backpack around Europe for two years, working in Spain and France. Then they moved to Holland and went on to spend time in Australia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Hong Kong before deciding there was no place like home, moving back to Middlesbrough. After leaving catering, Mark trained in electrics and electronics and took a degree in law and business in Bradford. He worked on welding fibre optic cables and now runs his own electrical and electronic security and maintenance business.
