Town council: The chairman, Coun Chris Tennant, wishes to thank the Skipton man who kindly left a message complementing the council about the floral decorations in Earby and, in particular, the bus station. The call was left on our correspondent’s answering machine, but she did not catch all of the number.
Coffee morning: Churches Together will not hold a coffee morning today (Thursday) due to holidays, but they will start again next Thursday. Please call in for a coffee and freshly-baked scones. All the proceeds go towards events such as Earby to Bethlehem in December.
Drop-in clinic: Earby Surgery will hold a blood pressure drop-in clinic for its patients. Doctor Huxley and nurse Julie will be there every Friday, between 5pm and 6pm. No appointment is needed, just call in. It is important for people to check their blood pressure regularly as an abnormal reading can point to early diagnosis of a variety of conditions which are best treated in their infancy.
All Saints’ Church: The 9.30am service on Sunday will be taken by the Rev Brian Pearmain. Cake will be served with the after-service coffee during September, with all proceeds going towards Christian Aid. If anyone would like to bake or donate a cake, contact churchwarden Vera Cocker on 01282 842653 or just bring it with you.
Rainbow whist: Rainbow whist will be on offer at the Linden Road Centre on Tuesday, at 2pm. Admission is £1.50 and there will be refreshments and a raffle. Everyone is welcome.
Youth hostel: The Friends of Earby Youth Hostel will meet on Wednesday for another gardening day. There are lots of jobs to do ahead of the heritage weekend and autumn. For more information, contact 01282 843850.
Methodist church: Sunday’s 10.30am service at St Peter’s Methodist Church will see the Rev Ruth Jackson leading a café-style worship with Holy Communion.
Community centre: A meeting for all those who are interested in the production of the next edition of Earby and District News will take place at 2pm tomorrow (Friday) in the New Road Community Centre.
Gardening society: Earby and District Gardeners Society will hold a committee meeting, at 7.30pm, on Monday in the lounge at the New Road Community Centre. The society hopes to welcome new members willing to help during the coming year.
