Photography group: The group meets every month at Townhead Court and new members are welcome. The next meeting is on Monday, September 16, at 7.30pm when there will be a presentation by Alan Owens of the work which he recently displayed in Bentham, a talk by Dickon Siddal on “an approach to lighting” and a members’ gallery on the theme of colour.
Tot Lord Trail: There will be a Tot Lord Trail tonight (Thursday). The walk around Settle provides a chance to find out about one of the town’s most colourful characters. Meet outside Settle Tourist Information Centre for a 6.15pm start. Tickets cost £4 with all proceeds going to Oxfam. Contact Richard Whinray on 01524 242414 Giving blood: St John’s Church Hall is hosting blood donor sessions today (Thursday), from 2.30pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7.30pm. Donors are urged to make an appointment on 0300 123 2323.
Victoria Hall: Tomorrow (Friday), Chris Bannister will perform the music of John Denver and next Friday, September 6, there will be the premiere of Coward, offering a speculative view of the life of Noel Coward. Next Sunday, September 8, there will be a mandolin and voice workshop led by Simon Mayor and Hilary James from 2pm to 4.30pm, before an evening concert by the duo. There will be a chance to find out more about becoming an “on call” firefighter and gain an insight into the firefighter cadets. Representatives from the police, Yorkshire Housing, paramedics and cave rescue will also be at the event.
Settle Voices: Settle Voices meet at the Friends Meeting House on Monday from 1pm to 3pm. There are no auditions and all that is required is a love of singing. For details, contact 01729 822771.
Townhead Crafts: Join the group on Thursday afternoons for handicrafts. Beginners and experienced crafters alike are welcome to come along. Bring your own project and benefit from shared ideas and the experienced tutor on hand. The group meets at Townhead Court from 2pm to 4pm and sessions cost 50p, with proceeds going to charity.
Yoga: Iyengar yoga classes restart on Monday, September 9. Classes are held at the Friends Meeting House, with mixed abilities from 12.30pm to 2pm and beginners from 2.15pm to 3.15pm. On Tuesdays, there are classes at Townhead Court from 6.15pm to 7.15pm for beginners and 7.30pm to 9pm for mixed abilities. For further details, contact 01282 843907.
