Emma’s Apothecary & Homestore celebrates 25 years in Craven Court, Skipton

Emma’s Apothecary & Homestore in Craven Court, Skipton – also known as “Emma’s” – has reached the grand old age of 25 years.
The shop opened in July 1988, when Craven Court itself first opened to the public.
Owner Emma Cox said: “We’d like to thank our wonderful customers for their continued support. We have many regular, local customers who have supported us over the years – we are very lucky!
“The court itself is a beautiful space, full of light with pretty shops and attractive Victorian iron work. We are proud to be one of the few remaining businesses that have stood the test of time.
“We’ve been selling handmade soap and bath preparations, beautiful toiletries, gifts, jewellery and vintage-style homewares for 25 years. Some brands we still have now that we originally opened with in 1988.”
In fact Emma herself, whilst having owned the business for 15 years, actually worked in the Apothecary all those years ago when it first opened.
“It was owned then by a close friend, Caroline Rose of Rose & Co Apothecary, and I was on holiday from university. We had a lovely summer setting the shop up and meeting our Skipton customers for the first time. I have very fond memories of the shop then, and we work hard to keep our unique identity, our particular style and individual atmosphere.”
