Skipton surgeries join forces to host open day
2:53pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
Skipton’s two doctors’ surgeries are running an open day for residents to get information, advice or raise questions or concerns about their health.
The Fisher Medical Centre’s Patient Participation Group (PPG) and Dyneley House PPG have joined forces to organise Craven Health Information Day in the refectory of the town’s Holy Trinity Church on Monday from 10am to 4pm.
A doctor from Fisher Medical Centre will give a short talk on key health issues and visitors will also be able to discuss concerns with a group of professional advisers and obtain support where necessary. Services will also include free blood pressure checks, advice on arthritis, diabetes, dementia, and drugs.
Dr Peter Whitehead, of Fisher Medical, and Dr Andrew Sumnall, from Dyneley House, said: “We welcome this initiative by our respective PPGs as an example of the increasing role PPGs are playing. Preventive health care has a very important place in the work of both practices and we hope many people will take this opportunity to seek advice.
“We are very grateful to the volunteers from all the charities and the members of our PPGs for their time and enthusiasm and Holy Trinity Skipton for the use of their facilities. We hope many people will come along and see just how much excellent free advice, support and information is available.”
