Hospital sets up temporary A&E ward at Airedale

Work has started on a new temporary accident and emergency department at Airedale Hospital.
The former endoscopy unit at the Steeton site is being converted over the next few weeks. It will deal with accident and emergency admissions when work begins in October on constructing the hospital’s new state-of-the-art, multi-million pound A&E unit.
The new building, earmarked on the site of the existing one, will include an improved main entrance and reception area, better clinical and staff areas, more private consultation rooms, clearer routes round the unit to "reduce stress and anxiety" and a new ambulance drop-off.
“The old endoscopy unit is just a few feet along the corridor from the current A&E and although the layout will be different, it will provide all the same services 24/7 for the public until the new building opens,” said a hospital spokesman. “There will be no change in provision.”
