It is part of £500 million which is being allocated across the country to help hospitals cope during their busiest times.
Skipton MP Smith said: “I welcome the £1.5 million for Airedale Hospital and urge the Secretary of State to keep a watchful eye on those hospitals serving some of the most rural parts of our country, such as the Yorkshire Dales, which I represent.”
And Keighley MP Kris Hopkins said: “This is tremendously good news for Airedale patients who can be assured that the hospital and its staff will now be even better prepared to deal with the challenges that winter brings.
“We are already looking forward to a brand new A&E department at Airedale, which will improve the quality of the local service even further in the years ahead.
“We cannot escape the fact that there have been difficulties around waiting times at a national level for a considerable period and, having spoken to Jeremy Hunt, and I know he and his ministerial team are strongly focussed on delivering improvements in both the short and long term.
“This additional funding – coupled with the new build project – proves to Airedale patients that he is aware of his responsibilities and is keeping to his commitments.”
