Grassington artist takes part in London exhibition

Gallery owner Phil Fraser has had a painting accepted for the Sunday Times Watercolour Exhibition 2013.
And the news comes just months after he showcased his work at the Royal Watercolour Society annual open exhibition in London.
Phil, who runs the gallery at Grove House, Grassington, specialises in watercolours.
He studied art history at Essex University and after living for two years in Venezuela, started painting on a daily basis in 1983. The following year, he moved to Spain, but returned to England in 1991 and continued to develop his watercolour style.
“Although the light and contrasts of colour in England do not match the intensities of those in Spain, I find the English landscape more alluring,” he says on his website. “There is almost a parkland quality to the English countryside with its balance of rolling pastoral farmland and scattered woodland. I am particularly attracted to the shallow, intimate spaces of woodland paths, parks and gardens.”
The Sunday Times exhibition will be staged at the Mall Galleries, London, from Monday to Saturday.
