Steeton youngster wins giant bear in Airedale Hospital treasure hunt

A Steeton youngster struck it lucky at a hospital open day where he picked up the top prize in a children’s treasure hunt.
Seven-year-old Charlie Best won a giant teddy after taking part in the event at Airedale Hospital.
He and the other children had hunted for tiny teddy bears hidden among the open day stands. Each teddy had a letter on, which the youngsters had to unscramble to come up with the word ‘hospital’. The competition was so popular with young visitors that the organisers plan to run it again next year.
Charlie’s mum, Kerry, said: “We really enjoyed the day and the children went last year too. Charlie loved the cave run – a 90 foot tunnel – which he went into seven times.”
Hundreds of people of all ages attended the occasion last month, which was staged in a marquee and the education centre at the hospital.
Colin Millar, chairman of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We were delighted that so many people came along and that there was so much interest in what is going on in our hospital.”
