Open day to be held at Newfield Hall
9:00am Wednesday 25th September 2013 in News
An open day will be held at Newfield Hall, near Malham, next month to celebrate the centenary of its owners, The Holiday Fellowship.
The company was founded by TA Leonard, widely considered one of the fathers of the outdoor movement, who provided all-inclusive holidays for the price of an average weekly wage.
Today the company offers breaks in 113 destinations in 46 countries, with profits ploughed back into making holidays better.
Newfield Hall was added to the company’s portfolio in 1934.
The grand country house was built in the mid-19th century by lawyer William Nicholson Alcock – son of Craven Bank founder William Alcock.
Now a country house hotel, Newfield Hall houses a unique heritage collection.
It includes a copy of every brochure since 1914, along with photographs, maps and other memorabilia.
The collection can be viewed on Sunday, October 6, when the public can also tour the house and grounds and enjoy afternoon tea.
The day is free but booking on 0845 470 7558 is essential.
