Police plea after elderly man is hurt in accident at Steeton
8:00am Thursday 26th September 2013 in News
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 90s was left with “potentially life threatening injuries” after being hit by a car in Steeton.
The accident, which happened shortly before 10.50am last Wednesday, left the man with serious leg injuries and a head injury, and led to the road being closed for more than two hours.
It happened at the junction of Chapel Road and Skipton Road and a rapid response vehicle and two ambulances were sent to the scene.
The injured man was taken to nearby Airedale Hospital.
Skipton Road was closed both ways between the entrance to the hospital and Steeton Top lights until around 1.30pm. The closure led to lengthy delays for motorists travelling between Keighley and Cross Hills.
The vehicle involved was a silver Ford Mondeo and its driver was uninjured.
Anyone who witnessed the collision has been asked to call West Yorkshire’s Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101.
