Anniversary celebrations at St Margaret Clitherow Church, Threshfield
8:00am Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in News
St Margaret Clitherow Church, Threshfield, celebrates its 40th anniversary this week.
The church was dedicated by Bishop Wheeler of Leeds on Tuesday, October 2, 1972 and the anniversary will be marked this weekend.
On Saturday the church – which has a futuristic and unusual pyramid shape – will be opened up so visitors can experience the serenity and beauty of the building.
Designed by Peter Langtry-Langton, the church has Grade II listed status and is the only Catholic Church in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
On Sunday morning parishioners will celebrate with lunch in the church to which Dales clergy and their families have been invited.
They also hope to be joined by friends from St Stephen’s, Skipton and relatives of Father Thomas Brady who served in the parish in the early years of the church.
