Two Bradford Council-owned outdoor centres in the Dales will soon be run by a special charitable trust.
Buckden House, in Upper Wharfedale, and Ingleborough Hall, in Clapham, are used by schools in Bradford and Leeds for residential stays and day trips.
But the centres – which offer activities like rock climbing, caving and orienteering – have suffered dwindling visitor numbers and currently run at a loss.
Headteachers were also keen to have more of a say in their running, so a trust is being set up to take on their management. Bradford Council will continue to own both properties.
