Skipton to host fifth International Puppet Festival
12:24pm Thursday 26th September 2013 in News
The fifth International Skipton Puppet Festival starts tomorrow – with the aim of surprising, delighting and inspiring its audiences.
The three-day festival will see 30 companies from across the world giving more than 80 performances, many of which are free.
German-based Biting Breads will kickstart the event with a performance of Troll Trouble at Aireville School at 1.30pm and it will be followed by the official festival opening at the hubsite in Coach Street car park at 6pm.
Saturday’s key event is an auction by the British Puppet and Model Theatre Guild in Skipton Town Hall at 5.30pm and lots include 20 Victorian marionettes.
Sunday’s highlight will be the puppet parade through the streets of Skipton, starting at noon outside Ermysted’s Grammar School.
“Our aim is to surprise, delight and poke your imagination with the best puppetry we can find to give you all a memorable and inspiring weekend full of smiles and hopefully some sunshine,” said the festival organisers.
