The Mighty Doonans to headline Ingleton Folk Festival
11:00am Saturday 28th September 2013 in News
Legendary band The Mighty Doonans will headline Ingleton Folk Festival.
Recently expanded to include a younger generation of Doonans, the group promises to deliver a memorable evening of song, music and dance in Ingleborough Community Centre next Saturday, October 5.
The event starts next Friday with the festival ceilidh, featuring the Macaroon Ceilidh Band.
Throughout the three-day event, pubs, clubs, cafes and the village square will come alive with scores of folk performances. There will be music sessions, workshops, morris dancing, a comic song competition and an open air Folk Songs of Praise.
With the exception of the headline concert and ceilidh, everything is free and no tickets are required.
“This is our 13th consecutive year and we’re now firmly established in the folk music calendar,” said festival organiser Chris Bonsall.
“Even though nearly all of our events are free, we’re able to attract some fantastic bands and our sessions are some of the best around. But for me the highlight will probably be the Mighty Doonans – they’re such a great band to see live.”
Programmes and tickets for the headline concert and ceilidh are available from the community centre on 015242 41701. Full details can be found on ingletonfolk.co.uk
