A Skipton couple celebrated their golden wedding with a reunion of the bridal party at the town’s Herriots Hotel.
Joseph and Deanna Middleton, of Castle Street, were married at Skipton Parish Church on September 7, 1963 and held their reception at the old Midland Hotel, now Herriots.
“It doesn’t seem two minutes since our wedding day,” said Mrs Middleton. “We have very special memories of the day.
“Celebrating our anniversary at Herriots brought back a lot of memories of our wedding reception at the Midland Hotel.”
She also said it was special that all three bridemaids, Diane Leach, Sheila Metcalfe and Lindsay Grant, and the best man, Jack Beck, could attend their golden wedding party.
The couple were then joined by family members for a week’s holiday in Alcudia, Majorca.
The Middletons, who are both 71, met when they were 11-year-old pupils at Brougham Street Secondary School.
“That seems like a lifetime ago,” said Mrs Middleton.
The couple have two children, Mandy Middleton, of Skipton, and Belinda Slater, of Skipton, and two grandchildren, Liam Shaw, of Skipton, and Megan Slater, of Skipton.
Mandy said: “They’re a really down to earth couple who have always been very willing to help other people.”
