Changes agreed for Giggleswick School Sports Hall
8:00am Saturday 5th October 2013 in News
Planned changes to the community use of Giggleswick School Sports Hall have been agreed by Craven councillors.
In future, the public will not be able to use the Mill Hill Lane sports hall between 5pm and 5.30pm on weekdays and throughout the May Day bank holiday.
Instead, public use will be introduced on weekdays between 8pm and 8.30pm.
In its application to Craven District Council’s planning committee to modify the section 106 agreement, the school said it needed to change the hours because of alterations to its timetable.
And it said if the changes did not go ahead, it would compromise the school’s ability to offer the education demanded by parents.
Councillors were recommended to approve the changes after hearing that the council’s sports development officer did not consider it to be a significant loss to the community.
Changes were also agreed to modify public use of the Eshtons all-weather pitch and pavilion in Raines Road.
However a condition was added that the school must keep a record of all bookings and make it available to the council for inspection.
