After-school club is launched in Austwick

Primary schools in North Craven have banded together and set up a much-needed after school club.
The minibus will also be used to transport children to sporting events.
Gill Woods, executive headteacher of Horton, Austwick and Clapham primary schools, said money raised from the sponsored ride, walk, run and cycle in April had funded a year’s lease of the minibus.
“This highly unusual event from Clapham to Horton raised £3,900 which has paid for most of the first year of the lease agreement, which will mean huge savings for each of the three schools in transport costs,” she said.
Mrs Woods said it was hoped the event would run again next year and be equally, if not more, successful.
“As for the after school club, there are insufficient numbers at any one of the schools to allow for the running of a club. We are hoping that once it is established, we will be able to break even on the costs and offer a much needed service to our three communities.”
