Roaring 20s Day to be held in Earby
10:00am Thursday 3rd October 2013 in News
Earby is set to celebrate a piece of the past by holding a Roaring 20s Day on Saturday.
“You look around and you see places celebrating 40’s weekends and Dickensian events, but there doesn’t seem to be any 1920s weekends,” said organiser Rosemary Biggin. “We’d like to celebrate the joy that people were feeling between the wars. There was a happiness that was brought on by the end of the First World War.”
The second annual Roaring 20s Day will take place at the New Road Community Centre from 10am to 4pm.
The event kicks off with a procession through the town, which will feature residents in 1920s fancy dress.
One of the attractions of the day will be the chance for visitors to win a new Toyota Aygo from Vantage Toyota in Colne.
To enter, visitors pay £2 for a chance to roll seven dice, all of which must come up with sixes to win.
There will also be donkey rides and swing boats for children, various stalls and refreshments.
