Rail services disrupted after train hits sheep
7:00am Thursday 10th October 2013 in News
Several sheep were hit by a train near Cononley – causing some services to be cancelled.
Tuesday’s 4.01pm train between Skipton and Bradford hit some of the 50-strong flock that had wandered onto the line.
A spokesman for Northern Rail said the train was damaged in the crash and had to be taken out of service at Skipton.
The spokesman added: “The line was open, but because we had to take a train out of action some services had to be cancelled.”
Other services were delayed because trains were running at reduced speed near the scene of the incident.
