Addict twice caught with illegal drugs
7:00am Thursday 10th October 2013 in News
A 47-year-old on police bail for possible drugs offences was found to be in possession of crack cocaine when he was searched in the street, Skipton magistrates heard.
A drugs warrant was executed on June 14 at the Clifford Court in Skipton home of Brian Dancer. Crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis resin with a street value of £120 was found.
While he was being investigated, a police officer unconnected with the original warrant also stopped him on June 22 in Broughton Road and found an additional 1.73 grams of crack cocaine.
Dancer, who admitted three charges of possessing a class A drug, and one of a class B drug, had taken to drugs following his divorce and after being diagnosed with kidney disease which had eventually resulted in a transplant, the court heard.
In mitigation, Gulfraz Khan said Dancer had sought help for his drug addiction with Craven Organisation for Drugs and Alcohol (CODA) and had since moved to Bristol where he was continuing to work with a drugs project.
Magistrates fined Dancer, of Maultravers Close, Bradley Stoke, £110 and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a victims surcharge of £20.
A forfeiture and destruction order was put on the drugs.
