Skipton Police take part in National Personal Safety Day
9:00am Saturday 12th October 2013 in News
Skipton Police will be taking part in the National Personal Safety Day on Monday.
As part of the StreetsAhead campaign, they will set up a mobile police office outside the town hall from 9am to 4pm where members of the public can get safety advice as well as some “freebies”.
The nationwide initiative is spearheaded by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, set up by the parents of missing estate agent Suzy Lamplugh with the aim of campaigning, educating and supporting people to help reduce the risk of violence and aggression.
Rachel Griffin, from the trust, said: “While risk levels vary from one area to another there are some basic tips that anyone can use to help improve safety, no matter where they are. For example, staying alert on the street could help you to see potential danger approaching in time to take action.”
