Giggleswick Primary School has been rewarded for its efforts to get children involved in physical activities.
The school, which runs clubs and offers nutritional advice, was awarded an Outstanding Energy Club Award by Sports Leaders UK.
A plaque was recently presented by Yorkshire club coordinator Rob Watson and will go on show at the school.
Headteacher Anne Michelmore-Brown said: “It is great to receive an Outstanding Energy Club Award and get official recognition for our work in encouraging pupils to be more active.
“We are very fortunate to have some dedicated parent volunteers and last year, student volunteers from Settle College, all of whom are willing to provide our pupils with enjoyable physical activities, as well as nutritional information.
“In addition to the health benefits of Energy Club, we have noticed that participants are often better able to concentrate during their classroom-based learning activities.”
Linda Plowright, of Sports Leaders UK, said: “Energy Club has been a tremendous success since its launch a year ago.
“It is now available in nearly 1,000 schools, and it is inspirational to hear how dedicated volunteers contribute to a better quality of life for our children. The programme works, as it takes the people who care most about kids and gives them training and support so they can make a difference in their local community.”
