Volunteers needed to lead Scout groups
9:00am Sunday 13th October 2013 in News
Scouts across North Yorkshire are urging volunteers to come forward to help run Scouting groups after a recent increase in youngsters wanting to join.
Currently, there are over 1,000 young people waiting to join a group in the county because there are not enough adult volunteers.
Sarah Dawson, lead volunteer for North Yorkshire Scouts, said: “Volunteering opportunities with Scouts can be amazing. Only this month, we have begun the selection for three adult leaders and 27 participants to join Scouts from all over the world at the next World Scout Jamboree in Japan in 2015.
“It’s a fantastic way to spend your time, working with inspiring adult volunteers and young people. We want to increase the number of children who are able to join the adventure, who are currently on waiting lists to join one of our groups.”
