Silsden street lamps repaired following complaints
8:00am Sunday 20th October 2013 in News
A cluster of street lamps in Silsden have been repaired following complaints from the public.
Contractors finished work on the lights in secluded Belton Road on Thursday.
The road connects Keighley Road – one of the main routes into Silsden – with industrial units and a small housing estate next to the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.
Resident Nigel Demaline said he and several other people had contacted Bradford Council over a two-week period.
He said the darkness had made Belton Road very dangerous after nightfall.
He said: “This is a major walking route to the railway station from Silsden.
“It was only a matter of time before someone was attacked or knocked down crossing the road.”
