Farmer’s Den sensory room is launched at Brooklands School, Skipton

Youngsters at Brooklands Community Special School, Skipton, have a colourful new sensory room.
It has been refurbished at a cost of £16,000 and has new equipment and projectors.
Most of the cost was met by a charity auction organised by livestock trader Andrew Atkinson and his family at The Coniston Hotel, Coniston Cold, last November.
Andrew acted as auctioneer and manager to extract the most out of the crowd and prizes included a day’s drive shoot, a prize-winning gimmer lamb, hampers and a much-sought-after meal at the home of Andrew and his wife, Jill.
The sensory room is called the Farmer’s Den.
“We could not have done this without the Atkinsons’ help,” said Brooklands business manager Maria Swain.
