Two arts groups in Glusburn are sharing in almost £1,800 provided by Craven District Council’s community grants sub-committee.
Organisers of Fallfest, a music and arts festival which attracted 1,500 people in September, have been given £1,000 towards the costs incurred in providing three days of family activities and live entertainment.
Glusburn Film Club has been given £796 to hold monthly film nights at Glusburn Institute, which will give local people a chance to enjoy movies ‘on the doorstep’ and stay afterwards for a chat.
Further £1,000 grants were awarded to Embsay with Eastby Parish Council towards improved play facilities at Embsay with Eastby Recreation Ground, Skipton Rugby Club to run a range of coaching activities for young people and Craven Bowling Club towards rehousing the clubhouse.
The sub-committee also approved a £350 grant to Kettlewell Village Hall towards the cost of purchasing a new two mat handling unit for the indoor bowling club.
Coun Linda Brockbank, the council’s lead member for empowering communities, said: “It’s really positive that we are able to support projects which provide activities in local communities.”
Anyone wishing to apply for up to £1,000 in the next round of grants should apply to BusinessSupport@cravendc.gov.uk before the end of November.
