£1million power supply scheme due to be completed
7:00am Thursday 24th October 2013 in News
A £1 million investment in improving the power supply serving Upper Wharfedale is due to be completed tomorrow.
The programme, being carried out by electricity distributor Northern Powergrid, has seen the replacement of old overhead power cables and support poles and large sections of lines being put underground.
And on Tuesday, more than 430 properties between Skirfare Bridge near Kilnsey and Buckden/Oughtershaw were due to be cut off to allow the remaining seven poles to be replaced.
Diego Mpiana, project engineer with Northern Powergrid, said: “The investment scheme has been progressing well and I am pleased to announce that we are currently on schedule to complete the project on October 25.
“Through the replacement of overhead lines and the undergrounding of several large sections of overhead line, we have helped to ensure the security of the electricity supply. We would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this important investment scheme and also to apologise for any inconvenience we may have caused.”
