Pizza delivery driver was not insured
11:52am Thursday 24th October 2013 in News
A 23-year-old Skipton man stopped in his Nissan Micra while delivering pizza was not covered by his insurance, magistrates heard.
Andrew Lowe told the Skipton court on Friday he believed his insurance, for his self-employed business as a painter and decorator, also covered him to deliver takeaways.
The court heard he had been stopped by police on August 11 as he drove along Skipton High Street and a check revealed he was not covered.
Lowe, who told the court he was homeless, but with a forwarding address of Greatwood Avenue, Skipton, admitted the offence, but added he had been completely unaware.
He was given a six month conditional discharge and had his licence endorsed with six penalty points. He was also ordered to pay a £15 victims surcharge.
