Barnoldswick in Bloom members plant bulbs at Greenberfield Locks

Barnoldswick’s Greenberfield Locks beauty spot has been boosted with the planting of hundreds of spring bulbs by local volunteers.
“Most of the bulbs are daffodils lifted from the town square as part of the replanting earlier this year, while others are ones we’ve recycled from beds we’ve dug over,” said Barnoldswick in Bloom member Lesley Gilbert. “We’re looking forward to a new splash of colour at the locks next spring.”
The bulb planting follows weeks of work by volunteers to reclaim overgrown flower beds by the canal and the rebuilding of broken-down walls by another volunteer, Stewart Lewis.
The work of the volunteers has been praised by Barnoldswick councillor David Whipp, who launched a campaign to revive the neglected beauty spot last year.
