Overflow car park planned at Bentham Golf Club

Plans to create an overflow car park at Bentham Golf Club have been submitted to Craven District Council.
The golf club, which is increasingly used for funeral wakes and other events, wants to increase its current 45-space car park by up to 15.
It says providing more off-street parking will put a stop to people parking on Robin Lane and the potential of causing problems for other road users.
The overflow, which would be surfaced with gravel, would be linked by a pathway to the golf course, which could be used by those with buggies, and a new access for cars to the north.
In its application to the council, an agent for the club says there has been an increase in functions because of little alternative in Bentham.
In addition, the club runs regular tournaments and competitions.
“It is clear that the proposals have a clear and direct link with the existing golf course and the proposal will have some benefits for the local economy in terms of responding to the particular needs of this well-established business,” says the report.
