Over £4,000 was raised at the Jack’s Journey Christmas Market held in Settle last weekend.

The event, which took place at St John’s Hall on Saturday was a huge success, said Sarah Kynaston, one of the organisers.

She said: “The atmosphere was wonderful and a real sense of community spirit and support was felt.”

A hog roast and a large selection of craft stalls helped raise £4,258, with more funds still coming in.

Sarah added: “This takes our grand total raised in 18 months for Brain Tumour Research and Support Across Yorkshire on behalf of Jack to almost £30,000.”

Jack’s Journey was set up after five-year-old, Jack Lambert, of Wigglesworth, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in June 2010 when he was just 20 months old. He endured six months of intensive chemotherapy and stem cell therapy.

The treatment was successful, but in June 2012 he was diagnosed with secondary cancer. After more treatment, he went into remission in December 2012.

Sarah said the Jack’s Journey team would like to thank everyone who supported the event as a stall holder, customer or helper.

The organisers also thanked The Blue Pig Company, Long Preston, for providing a pig for the hog roast, Adrian Proctor for cooking and supplying his catering equipment, Angela and Anna Booth for serving, Booths Supermarket in Settle for donating 300 bread rolls and to Settle Coal for donating the fuel for the hog roast.
