A computer programming club has been launched for year six pupils at Glusburn Primary School.

The Code Club members learn how to make computer games, animations and websites. The venture is part of a national initiative for children aged nine to 11.

Parent Emlyn Butterfield runs the club, which meets weekly after school.

“Each term the students will progress and learn more, whilst at the same time using their imaginations and making creative projects,” said headteacher Richard Hunt.

The youngsters are currently designing their own computer games for the school Christmas fair this Saturday, when they will present them on an interactive whiteboard. Visitors will have the chance to play in return for a donation.
