A site meeting will be held at Arcow Quarry, Helwith Bridge, to consider the proposed construction and operation of rail sidings.
Newly formed Lafarge Tarmac, which operates both Dry Rigg and Arcow quarries, wants to construct the railway sidings at Arcow Quarry to serve the two quarries.
It is due to submit a planning application very shortly.
And planning members of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority have said it would be useful to have a site meeting at an early stage so they can assess the environmental aspects of operating the sidings and the visual impact of the proposed works.
The site meeting will take place on Friday, December 20.
Separate approval for the sidings will be required from Network Rail.
