More than 280 shoppers queued outside Skipton’s new Aldi store, on Keighley Road, to get their hands on a Golden Ticket before the outlet was officially opened by store manager Mark Vine on Thursday.
The first shoppers started queuing at about 1am.
To celebrate the grand opening, the first 100 shoppers received Golden Ticket prizes, with Charlotte Marshall taking home the star prize of a 40-inch HD- ready TV.
The new store – which has created 25 jobs – covers 990 square metres and has 86 car parking spaces.
Mr Vine said: “It was fantastic to see so many people from the local community turn out to support our store opening. The atmosphere was electric as people waited to see if they were one of our lucky Golden Ticket winners.
“We’re looking forward to what should be a busy Christmas period in Skipton.”
