Townhead Surgery in Settle has won an award for offering a one-stop-shop for medicines and high-quality healthcare under one roof.

The award recognises the commitment and hard work carried out by the practice to provide an excellent dispensing service to its patients, many of whom live in rural areas and find it difficult to access a pharmacy.

The practice, part of Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Clinical Commiss-ioning Group (CCG), collected the award, sponsored by Alliance Healthcare, at the Dispensing Doctors’ Association annual conference in Harrogate.

Dr Bill Hall, senior partner at Townhead Surgery, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the practice and our success has been down to putting our patients at the centre of everything we do, focusing on the highest quality care and service and working together as a team.

“When patients are eligible to receive dispensing services from their GP the overwhelming majority choose to do so and we’ve had very positive feedback from them. We are constantly reviewing our service so that we can make improvements as we gain a greater understanding of our patients’ needs.”

Dr Colin Renwick, clinical chairman of Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG, added: “The award is great news. It recognises everyone’s hard work and the excellent quality of the dispensing service the practice provides.”

The judges said the practice staff went the extra mile to provide an exceptional service for their patients, continuously focused on quality and were innovative in both service delivery and technology.
