South African and Settle children grew closer with the visit of a teacher from Kwesana School.

Settle Primary played host to Miss Nojozi, a reception teacher from its partner Kwesana School in South Africa.

Miss Nojozi spent time in classes and working with teachers to swap ideas and catch up on mutual projects which the partnership has fostered.

Teaching assistants Sarah Entwistle and Claire Ratcliffe and IT technician Richard Freytag visited Kwesana over the summer holiday to take resources to the school and work on link topics.

Miss Nojozi’s return visit built on the partnership, which is fast becoming a true friendship between the communities of Settle and Kwesana.

Headteacher Richard Wright said: “It was fantastic to see Miss Nojozi and for her and our staff to get to know each other better, learn from one another and make huge strides forward in joint working initiatives for the benefit of all our children both here and in South Africa.”

The link with Kwesana was made through the efforts of Settle Primary School governor Gillian Gape, who has extensive contacts in South Africa after regularly volunteering in the country.
