A swarm of piranhas were among the beasties who invaded Long Preston Primary School on Monday for an exciting rainforest roadshow.

The fake fish – complete with fearsome teeth – were part of a one-hour morning presentation by ZooLab to children, parents and staff.

Zoolab delivers animal handling workshops to children across the UK.

The school invited them in as children are currently learning about “Fabulous Forests”.

The presentation looked at rainforest animals and artefacts of indigenous people.

After that, workshops in each class gave pupils the opportunity to create artwork and tribal jewellery and take a closer look at the animals and artefacts brought in by ZooLab.

Headteacher Elizabeth Martin said “It’s a great ending to our theme for the term”
