Skipton firm Brooksbank Valves Limited is offering a £1,500 reward to help catch thieves who targeted its Sackville Street premises.

The thieves struck while contractors were working on the site and stole seven eight-inch gate valve castings in nickel aluminium bronze, each weighing 85kgs, and three ten-inch castings, weighing 136kgs. All the material is fully traceable – they are marked Brooksbank and have unique serial numbers.

Managing director Jonathan Brooksbank said: “The advice we have had from the people who deal with our scrap is that money talks and so we are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

“If no-one comes forward, we haven’t lost anything – it is a no lose scenario for us.”

Brooksbank Valves has been operating for 60 years and manufactures valves for the oil and gas industry as well as military ships.

The theft occurred between 5pm on Friday, November 29 and 11am last Monday, December 2.
