Low burglary detection figures revealed in a new report from local Neighbourhood Policing Teams have sparked concern.
And one of the places affected was the Craven ward, which covers Addingham, Silsden, Steeton and Eastburn, It, along with the Wharfedale ward, had seen burglaries rise from 43 to 95 in 2012, but the detection rate was just six per cent, according to figures delivered to Shipley Area Committee.
But Inspector Hugh Robinson said in his report that intelligence gathering had been greatly improved.
“Allied to this is the increasing work being done with offenders to prevent re-offending,” he said. “This work includes disruption of offenders where appropriate using police and court bail conditions,” Insp Robinson stated.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman acknowledged there was room for improvement and said they would continue to work with local communities to make them safe and feel safer.
